Editorial policy

This page sets out what Quilt & Quiet will publish, what it will not, and what happens when we get something wrong. It is deliberately specific, because a policy written in generalities cannot be held against us.

Corrections

If a specification, a figure or a rule on this site is wrong, tell us at info@quiltandquiet.com. Here is what we do with it:

1. We check it against the source — the product listing, the federal register, the coverage determination — rather than against our memory of it.
2. If it is wrong, we change it, and we change every other page that repeats the same claim. Our content is structured data, so a corrected specification propagates to every table that uses it.
3. We update the page's modified date, which is displayed under the byline, so the change is visible rather than silent.
4. For a material correction — a safety claim, a coverage rule, a figure someone might have acted on — we say what changed on the page itself rather than editing quietly.

Claims we refuse to make

• That we tested anything. We do not own these products. Units we claim to have tested: 0. What we do instead.
• Any clinical credential. Nobody here is a doctor, a nurse, an occupational therapist or a benefits adviser, and no page will imply otherwise.
• Tenure or expertise as a shortcut. No “long-time”, no “veteran”, no “years of experience”. Interest is true and checkable; tenure claims are neither.
• A price we did not verify today. Prices come from a live check, carry the date, and vanish after 48 hours if the check stops.
• A rating we did not produce. No customer reviews, no testimonials, no star ratings borrowed from a retailer and re-presented as ours.
• Urgency. No countdowns, no “only 2 left”, no fake scarcity. This audience is targeted by scams and looking like one would be disqualifying.

Rules that apply to every page

• The cheaper option gets named first. If a wedge pillow solves the problem, the page about the bed says so.
• Every comparison names something we would skip, with the specific published reason.
• Unknowns are printed as unknowns. Where a manufacturer publishes nothing, the table says Not published. We never fill a blank with a plausible figure.
• Health-adjacent pages point to a professional. An occupational therapist will assess a person and a room better than any website, and saying so costs us nothing.
• Anchor text describes its destination. No “click here”. This matters doubly for readers using a screen reader, which is common in this audience.

Review schedule

• Prices: checked automatically every day. Stale prices are removed rather than displayed.
• Product specifications: re-read when a product is added, when a reader flags something, and when a listing changes materially.
• Regulatory pages — Medicare coverage, the bed-rail standard, FDA guidance — re-checked against the primary source periodically and whenever we become aware of a change. Coverage rules do change; if you are acting on one, check the linked document yourself.
• Every page carries a published date and a last-updated date under the byline. If they are the same, the page has not been revised since publication, and we would rather show that than fake a freshness date.

Advertising and independence

This site is funded by affiliate commission and nothing else. We do not accept paid placements, sponsored posts, or payment to review a product. No brand has approval over anything published here, and no brand has ever been shown a draft. The full funding disclosure.

AI and how this is written

Research and drafting on this site are assisted by software, as is now normal in publishing. What that does not change: every specification comes from a dated reading of a real listing, every regulatory claim links to the primary document, every price comes from a live API call, and every score is computed from a published rubric you can rerun. The verification is the point, and it is the part we publish so it can be checked.

Images

Product photographs are served from the retailer's image service under its affiliate program terms. Every other photograph is licensed stock, credited in our repository with the photographer and source. No image on this site is presented as a photograph of our premises, our equipment, our staff or our testing — because none of those exist.

What is not here yet

This site launched in July 2026 and is incomplete by design rather than by accident. There are pages planned that are not written, and we would rather leave a gap than publish something thin to fill a menu. If there is a question in this subject you cannot get answered anywhere, that is genuinely useful to know — tell us.
