How we make money

Affiliate commission, from Amazon, disclosed on every page that carries a link. Here is exactly how it works and what it does not change.

The Amazon Associates disclosure

Quilt & Quiet is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. We earn from qualifying purchases. Our links carry the tracking tag t5sleep-20.

As required by the Federal Trade Commission's endorsement guidance, this relationship is disclosed on every page that carries a buy link, above the first one, and marked with #ad beneath every button.

Why Amazon, and only Amazon

Because it is the only relevant retailer whose affiliate program we have been accepted into. This site is new. Affiliate networks approve publishers slowly, and we are not going to imply a relationship we do not have.

The practical consequence is worth stating plainly: there are good products in this category that we cannot send you to. Saatva, Tempur-Pedic's ERGO line and Sleep Number all sell adjustable bases, none of them are on Amazon, and we earn nothing from mentioning them. Where they are genuinely relevant we name them as context and say so. What we will not do is write a comparison whose buy button cannot exist.

What the commission does not change

  • Ranking. Scores come from a published rubric applied to published specifications. Commission is not one of the criteria, and you can recompute any score on the site yourself.
  • Which product wins. The top pick in a comparison is frequently not the most expensive one. On the risers page the products are the cheapest things we link to anywhere, and the commission on one is a few cents.
  • Whether we say something is bad. Every comparison names at least one product we would not buy. Those links still earn us money and we still tell you not to use them.
  • Whether we recommend the cheap alternative. The acid reflux page leads with a wedge pillow rather than a bed, on purpose, because for most readers the wedge is the right first purchase.

That last point is the one that matters most to us commercially, and it is worth being explicit about why we do it anyway. A reader who buys a cheap wedge that solves their problem comes back. A reader who buys a base on our recommendation and finds it did not help does not, and should not.

About the prices you see

  • Every price is fetched live from the retailer's API and stamped with the date it was checked.
  • We never type a price into an article. There is no price field in our content data model at all.
  • Prices older than 48 hours disappear automatically and the button falls back to Check price on Amazon.
  • The price you pay is set by the retailer and can change at any moment. Always check at the checkout.

Every commercial link on this site routes through our own `/go/` address before reaching the retailer. That is so we can change a destination in one place — if we join a better program later, no article has to be rewritten. Those links carry `rel="sponsored nofollow noopener"` as Google's link-spam policy requires, and they open in a new tab.

We also record a click event in our analytics when you use one. That tells us which pages are useful. It does not tell us who you are, and it is not shared with the retailer.

About the product photographs

Product images are served from the retailer's own image service under the Associates program terms. We do not scrape or re-host them. Every other photograph on this site is licensed stock, credited in our repository, and is never presented as a photograph of our premises, our equipment or anybody connected with us — because there are none.

What we will never do

  • Accept payment for a placement, a ranking, or a favorable write-up.
  • Publish a review, a testimonial or a star rating we did not produce.
  • Claim to have tested something we have not.
  • Show a price that did not come from a live check.
  • Manufacture urgency — no countdowns, no “only 2 left”, no fake scarcity. This audience is targeted by scams constantly and looking like one would be fatal.
