About Quilt & Quiet
A site about adjustable beds that spends most of its time telling you to measure your own legs first.
By Stephen V.Published How we pick
Quilt & Quiet started with a specific, ordinary problem: watching someone get stuck on the edge of a bed that was two inches too tall for them, and then discovering that almost nothing published about adjustable beds addresses that at all.
Search this subject and you get pages written for a sleeper with a condition. Reflux, back pain, snoring. Those are real, and they are covered here too. But the person who cannot get out of bed without a hand is shopping for something else entirely, and until you separate angle from height you cannot even describe the problem properly, let alone solve it with a set of risers instead of a bed.
Who writes this
Stephen V.. Stephen is an enthusiast who got interested in this the way most people do — by watching someone he cares about struggle to get out of a bed that was the wrong height. He reads the manuals, compiles the published specs, and does the arithmetic. He is not a doctor, an occupational therapist, or an installer, and nothing here is medical advice.
That is the whole of it. There is no editorial board, no medical review panel, and no team of testers, and if you see any of those claimed on a site in this category it is worth asking who exactly they are.
Why the honesty is the strategy, not a disclaimer
The ranking field in this category leads with credentialed bylines and real test labs. We cannot imitate that truthfully and we are not going to try. What that field mostly does not do is publish arithmetic — nobody tells you how to work out the correct bed height for your own body, nobody quotes the actual Medicare criteria, and nobody mentions that adult bed rails became federally regulated in 2023.
So that is where the effort goes. Verifiable, reproducible, needs no laboratory, and — from reading a great deal of what is published in this niche — largely uncontested.
What we publish
- Comparisons of products we can actually link you to, scored against a rubric we publish in full, with live prices and at least one thing we would skip.
- Method guides — work out your own bed height, check whether your mattress will bend, measure the gaps around a bed rail.
- Rules and coverage, quoted from the primary source: the Medicare criteria, the federal bed-rail standard, the FDA's entrapment guidance.
- The cheaper option, first. If a wedge pillow solves your problem, we say so before mentioning a base — on the page about the base.
What we do not publish
- Testimonials or reviews from customers. We have none, and inventing them would be fabrication.
- Star ratings dressed up as test results. Our score is an editorial reading of published specifications and it never appears in the page's structured data.
- Prices typed into an article. There is no price field in our content model, so a stale number cannot survive a rewrite.
- Medical advice. We are not clinicians and this is not that.
- Buy buttons for products we cannot send you to.
Who publishes it
Quilt & Quiet is published by Type 5 Marketing LLC. It is funded by affiliate commission, currently entirely from Amazon, and we explain exactly how that works including what it means for what you read here.
You can reach us at info@quiltandquiet.com. If we have published a specification that is wrong, tell us and we will check it against the source and correct the page — our corrections policy says how.
