Every adjustable base raises the head of the bed. That part is solved, and it is solved at the bottom of the market as well as at the top. So we rank these on the things that are not solved: whether the legs adjust, whether the manufacturer will tell you what the frame is rated to hold, and whether the controls work for hands that do not work well.
We have not slept on any of these. What follows is a reading of what each manufacturer publishes, scored against a rubric we publish in full, with live prices pulled from Amazon today.

How we ranked them
Five criteria, each scored out of ten, averaged with no weighting and rounded to one decimal. A criterion whose specification the manufacturer does not publish scores five — a neutral score — and the product write-up says so explicitly. That rule matters here more than on most sites, because this category publishes so little.
- Entry-height control. Does the base publish leg-height options, and can the legs come off for a zero-clearance install? This is weighted first in our thinking because it is the only spec that changes whether you can stand up from the bed.
- Controls. Wireless beats wired, and a lit remote or an under-bed light beats neither. A cord running from the bed to the floor is a trip hazard on a site about not falling.
- Weight capacity. A published figure, or a neutral five. The frame has to take your full weight on one edge while you sit down and stand up, which is a harder load than lying on it.
- Position range. Head and foot beats head only. Published presets are a convenience, not a therapy.
- Setup and daily use. Assembly claims, USB ports, under-bed lighting. Small things that decide whether you like the bed in month six.

What to do after you have chosen
Three things people discover after the base arrives, in the order they discover them.
- The mattress. A rigid innerspring will not bend on a base. Check yours against our compatibility guide before the delivery, not after.
- The sheets. A bending mattress pops fitted sheets off the corners. You want a deep pocket and a genuine anchoring design — the sheets that stay on.
- The height. The base plus the mattress is your new sleep-surface height, and it may not be the one you wanted. Measure it against your own legs and adjust from there.
The honest limits of this comparison
We have not lain on these beds, we do not own them, and we have no test lab. What we have done is read every published specification, record where the record is blank, and do the arithmetic on what is left. That is a narrower claim than the one most sites in this category make, and it is the one we can actually stand behind. Here is the full methodology, including what would make us change a ranking.
If your budget is the constraint rather than the specifications, the bases under $1,000 is the same analysis with the price ceiling applied first.
Questions people actually ask
Which adjustable bed is best for getting in and out of bed?
The one whose legs adjust. Of the bases here, the Amada and the Pipishell both publish four leg-height options, which is the only spec that changes how high the sleep surface sits. Work out your own target height first — the arithmetic is here.
Is a cheap adjustable bed base worth it?
For angle, yes — the cheapest base and the most expensive one both raise the head. The differences are in build, motor noise, warranty and how much the manufacturer publishes. What a cheap base will not do is tell you its weight capacity, and that is the spec we would most like to see.
Do adjustable beds come with a mattress?
Usually not, though some listings bundle one. You need a mattress that flexes — see adjustable base compatibility. Budget for it separately unless the listing is explicit.
How much weight can an adjustable bed hold?
Only one base in this comparison publishes a figure at all: 750 lb, on the Mixcous king. Every other listing here is silent. We score an unpublished capacity as neutral rather than guessing — our weight capacity guide explains what the number has to cover.
Do I need a split king?
Only if two people share the bed and want different positions. A split king is two twin XL halves, which means two mattresses, a gap filler down the middle, and twice as many motors to fail. If you sleep alone, a queen or a twin XL is simpler and cheaper.
